Steaming is good (or at least useful for some recipes). Here's how to do it. Use a pot with a lid (or, in a pinch, you can just put a piece of aluminum foil over the top). Place a steamer basket into the pot. (These are cheap, never wear out, and they even make them for microwave ovens. They are also nice because they adjust to fit the interior dimensions of the pot. Pour water into the pot so that it is just below the level of the steamer (after all, you are steaming the food, not boiling it.) Put the ingredients to be steamed into the pot. Don't heap it up too high, or the stuff in the middle won't cook as quickly. Turn on the heat. Now you're steaming!
